About Me

I currently teach out of my home studio on a grand piano in addition to my electric piano (which is great for when we want to do recordings). I have a full lesson schedule, teaching in the afternoon and evenings Monday-Friday. I teach year-round and encourage regular lessons, since that really does make a difference in students’ progress and enthusiasm.

Education & Background

I received my degree in Viola performance from the University of Louisville School of Music in May 2010. I am classically trained on viola and piano and I have been teaching private violin, viola and piano lessons for the past 10 years to a full studio of students of all ages. I am also an active musician. I am part owner and violist in my business called Electria. We perform music for weddings and events. In addition to the classical string quartet, trio or duo that we play in or provide, we also play modern music on electric instruments, accompanied by backtracks! It has expanded my musical experience and appreciation for different genres and styles of music beyond classical and that’s something I am able to bring to my teaching as well.

What I Teach

I mainly focus on classical training, however I customize my teaching repertoire to incorporate my student’s music tastes and interests. As I teach, I emphasize music theory so that my students may have a better understanding of how the music is structured. My goal is that they understand music from a holistic perspective so that it can be enjoyed for a lifetime!

Ages/Skill Levels Taught

I teach all ages and love teaching kids and adults. You’re never too old to start learning! Piano is a great beginning instrument for children at the age of 5 or 6. Beginning and Intermediate students are my main focus, as I love building a foundation in music with beginners and helping advancing students reach new levels.
